Folds: Week Three
100 days of folds
What’s going on here?
This week was again primarily focused on materials and process with a dash of symbolism. I brought in found objects like a pillow case; explored folding color negative film; I used myself as a shape to fold; and I thought of the fold as a container to hold a mark (squished paint). And something that has been tugging at me is starting and ending with a rectangle and something that I will probably dig deeper into in the upcoming weeks. What does it mean to start with a fresh sheet of paper or fabric? How can additional meaning be translated via material shape? And what does it mean to end back at a rectangle (or not).
