Folds: Week One

100 days of folds

I have participated in the 100 day project for the past five years. Knots, Animation, Color Blocks, and Circles. I only made the full 100 days with Knots, but each project has been a wonderful dive into a concept and has positively influenced my practice in some way. It has been the the thing I needed when I just needed to get myself to make something, give myself the time and space to build a practice.

This year I have picked folds as an umbrella as it incorporates so many of the different things I already play with in my practice. It gives me a change to play but also dig deeper into what kind of metaphors folds can be used for and how I can lean into those a bit more in my practice.

So here’s what week one manifested. Something that I love about this project is that all of these works are just conceptual research. They are not works in progress or final finished pieces. They are a thought, a new way of working with a material, an experiment, that will somehow get woven into my daily practice.
